It All Begins with Yes

03/26/2025

Scripture: Luke 5:1-11

• Peter's first act of obedience was allowing Jesus to use his boat as a teaching platform (Luke 5:3).

• This may have seemed like a minor inconvenience—Peter was tired from fishing all night—but his simple yes positioned him for a life-changing encounter.

• Often, our greatest breakthroughs begin with small steps of obedience. Are we willing to let Jesus use what we have, even when it's inconvenient?

• After a long, unsuccessful night of fishing, Jesus told Peter to try again (Luke 5:4-5). Peter initially resisted but then said, "Nevertheless, at Your word I will let down the net."

• His obedience led to an abundant blessing—more fish than his nets could handle.

• Sometimes, God calls us to obey even when it defies logic or past experience. Are we willing to trust His word over our own understanding?

• After witnessing the miracle, Peter was overwhelmed by Jesus' power and confessed his unworthiness (Luke 5:8).

• Jesus didn't reject him but instead called him to a greater purpose: "From now on you will catch men."

• Peter's final yes—the decision to leave everything and follow Jesus—set him on a path that would change the world.

• Every act of obedience brings us closer to our divine calling. Are we ready to say yes to what God is asking of us today?

• Peter's journey started with a simple yes, and each act of obedience led to a greater revelation of Christ. The same is true for us—God is always calling, but it's our yes that opens the door to His plans.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the power of obedience and for showing us through Peter's journey that our greatest blessings and revelations of You begin with a simple "yes." Help us to trust You in the small things, to obey even when we don't understand, and to surrender fully to Your calling on our lives.

Lord, we ask for the courage to step out in faith, knowing that You are our Teacher, our Provider, and our Savior. Let our hearts be open to Your voice, our hands be willing to serve, and our lives be a testimony of what You can do when we walk in obedience.

May we never hesitate when You call. May we always respond, "Yes, Lord." In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
