PART 2: DON’T GO BACK

05/27/2025

Scripture: John 5:14 (KJV) “Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee."

Healing is not the end—it's the beginning of a call to responsibility. Jesus finds the man again, not to celebrate his healing, but to caution him: "Sin no more." This isn't harsh—it's holy love.

Too often, we return to the very things Jesus delivered us from. We forget the bondage. We minimize the cost. But Proverbs warns us:

"As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool repeats his folly." (Proverbs 26:11)

The grace that heals us also warns us: don't go back. Don't play with what once paralyzed you. Freedom must be guarded. Healing must be honored. We have a role in maintaining what Jesus has restored.

Have I returned to habits or attitudes that once had me bound? What boundaries or accountability do I need to stay free?

PRAYER:

Lord, help me not to waste the healing You've given me. Strengthen my resolve to walk in newness of life. I don't want to go back—I want to grow forward. Help me to remember what You brought me out of, and give me grace to walk in what You've called me to. I ask it all in Jesus name, Amen.
