POWER NOT GIVEN

Scripture: John 19:10–11 -"Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?" Jesus answered, "You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above."

Pilate believed he held ultimate control over Jesus' fate. But Jesus knew something Pilate didn't—true authority only comes from above, and no one can take what God has not given.

We must be vigilant and spiritually aware so we don't unknowingly surrender our peace, purpose, identity, or calling to people, systems, or voices that don't have God-given authority over us.

1. Know Who You Are

Jesus didn't react out of fear because He was secure in His divine identity.
When you know who and whose you are, you stop giving people power they were never meant to carry over your emotions, decisions, or destiny.

2. Illegitimate Power is Always Intimidating

Pilate tries to manipulate Jesus with fear, but Jesus sees through it.
Many people will try to control you through fear, guilt, or pressure, but their power is only real if you believe it is.

3. Power Given From Above

God is the true source of all authority. If He hasn't authorized it, it's not valid.
Before reacting, ask: Did God give them the right to speak into this part of my life? If not, dismiss the fear and reclaim your authority.

Don't give access, influence, or control to those God never authorized. Whether it's in relationships, leadership, workplaces, or spiritual life—check the source of their authority. Jesus didn't flinch because He knew: Pilate was only operating on borrowed permission.

PRAYER

"Lord, open my eyes to see where I've surrendered authority You never told me to give up. Help me to stand in the identity and power You have given me and not be intimidated by those who only seem to have control. I declare today that my life is governed by Heaven, not by human pressure. In Jesus' name, Amen."
